Helix is a renowned brand selling sleep accessories. It’s primarily known for its high-quality mattresses, with its models winning many awards over the years.

In 2021 alone, Wired named the Helix Midnight Luxe mattress the overall best mattress to buy online, and GQ listed it as a favourite based on users’ reviews.

Additionally, there’s an extended warranty and a 100-night sleep trial, which allow you to decide on your new mattress and still get a full refund if you change your mind, all within the first 100 days.

Our Helix review touches upon everything you need to know about the company and its various products – mattresses, bed bases, and bedding.

Helix mattress reviews by satisfied customers confirm that Helix mattresses are of the highest quality. The company has two mattress lines – standard Helix and Helix Luxe. Both lines have models suitable for all sleeper types.

Standard Helix models are, understandably, more affordable than the Luxe line. Helix Luxe mattresses feature a premium pillow top and enhanced lumbar support. Another significant distinction is that standard Helix models have a 10-year warranty, while for the Luxe mattress, the warranty extends to 15 years.

Helix bed mattresses differ based on firmness, sleeping position, and contouring. Below, you’ll find a convenient table that’ll help you easily find the most suitable solution:

Each mattress from this line comes with a premium quilted pillow top. Buyers can also choose between a breathable TENCEL™ Cover or GlacioTex Cooling Cover.

Furthermore, Luxe’s upgraded features encompass zoned lumbar support coils for a softer feel. They also have better edge support and a hypoallergenic cooling cover. Lastly, the Luxe mattresses are two inches higher than standard Helix mattresses.

Helix Mattresses Pricing

Helix mattress sizes broadly define the products’ prices, which range from $897 for twin size to $1,759 for king size (the standard line). Note that Helix Sleep coupons and promotions may save you between $128 and $192 per bed.

The price of Helix Luxe beds starts at $1,410 for a twin bed and goes up to $2,950 for a California king. Again, a promo code can save you between $128 and $257 per mattress.

As for available sizes, refer to the following table for details.

Size Dimensions (width x length x height) in inches Weight (lb)
Twin 38 × 75 × 12 65
Twin XL 38 × 80 × 12 65
Full 54 × 75 × 12 85

Helix Bases

Helix offers four types of bases to put your mattress on:

  • Frame
  • Foundation
  • White or natural wood frame
  • Adjustable base

All of these products are easy to assemble and come with a five-year warranty. Helix offers free shipping within the US; however, there is currently no option for free delivery for Canada. Canadian shipping is fixed for all orders and will incur a customs tax and a shipping fee of $250 per mattress, $175 per foundation, and $75 per bed frame per delivery.

Steel Frame

The steel frame provides long-lasting support thanks to hardened steel and fibreglass-infused resins. It prevents motion transfer, can support weights exceeding 2,500 lbs, and has smooth edges. This frame is compatible with all Helix mattresses (Helix Dawn, Helix Dusk, etc.) but requires a foundation.

The frame price ranges from $192 to $225, depending on the size.

This 7.5-inches-tall Helix product features rounded corners. The foundation is made of birch wood and has five slats, five inches apart. This allows for optimal support and airflow. Depending on the size, the foundation price is between $321 and $514.

Adjustable Base

The adaptable base helps alleviate back pain and improves overall comfort with head and foot adjustability. Furthermore, the product boasts a timer for head and foot massage.

Unlike most other items in our Helix review, the base doesn’t have a trial period. The product is priced based on its size, starting at $966 and going up to $1,095.

Wood Frame

The Helix wood frame is available in two colours – white and natural. This 100% wood frame allows tool-less assembly and has a water-based finish with zero volatile organic compounds. A Helix bed frame will set you back $640 to $820.

Helix Bedding

It’s difficult to imagine getting a good night’s sleep without a proper bedding set, and Helix understands that. Its offerings include sheets, pillows, mattress toppers, and mattress protectors.

Let’s learn more about some of the top sellers.

Slate Ultra-Soft Sheet Set

TENCEL-fibre sheets by Helix are ultrasoft and sustainably produced. These sheets have moisture-drawing properties as they are made from fibres extracted from eucalyptus wood that ensure dry and cool sleeping, even on warm nights.

You’ll spend $160 for a twin-size bedding set and $257 for a California king.

Plush Mattress Topper

The Plush Mattress Topper is hypoallergenic and breathable, making it an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin. The item features soft fibres and is machine washable. This mattress topper starts at $141 for a twin bed.

Waterproof Mattress Protector

The Helix mattress protector is designed for maximum breathability. It’s also waterproof, anti-microbial, noiseless, soft, and stretchy. The price for this mattress protector ranges from $96 to $127.

Weighted Blanket

The Helix weighted blanket has soft fleece on one side and sheared microfibre on the other. Depending on your preferences, you can choose among three weights:

Blanket weight Body weight Price
10 lbs Up to 125 lbs $127
15 lbs 125 to 200 lbs $159
20 lbs Over 200 lbs $191

Helix blankets are perfectly sized to cover one adult. They’re machine washable and come with removable covers.

Helix pillows come in three variations: wedge pillow, adjustable pillow, and down and feather pillow.

  • Wedge pillows feature gel memory foam and reduce back and neck pain. They’re best for people suffering from acid reflux, heartburn, and snoring issues. The commodity costs $122.
  • Adjustable pillow with gel microfibre fill and breathable cotton caters to any body type and sleep position. The item comes in standard and king size.
  • Helix feather and down pillow has an ultrasoft cotton cover and is suitable for any sleeping position. It costs $122 for a standard and $141 for a king size.

Helix Strengths and Weaknesses

Helix has various sleep products to suit individuals and couples with different sleeping habits. But as with any brand, Helix has its pros and cons, so let’s review them.

  • A 100-night sleep trial for most products
  • Mattress toppers accommodate sleepers with sensitive skin and those suffering from allergies.
  • Warranty ranges from one year for pillows, mattress protectors, and toppers to 20 years limited warranty for the adjustable base.
  • Various mattresses relieve pressure points and are suitable for any sleeper type; on the firmness scale, they range from soft to firm.
  • The Best Overall Mattress 202 award for Midnight Luxe adds this mattress to the list of top mattresses available in Canada.
  • Helix customer service can be easily reached via a contact form, chat, or phone support from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.

  • Delivery only to some parts of Canada
  • No trial period for the adjustable base

Helix Alternatives

Logan and Cove and GhostBed are some of the main Helix competitors in Canada.

If you aren’t sure whether a Helix mattress would suit your needs, you might wish to check out Logan and Cove, a bed manufacturer with an excellent reputation. Its best mattress offers superior edge support.

However, Helix might be a better option if you’re in a rush, as it ships its products in up to seven days, while Logan and Cove shipments can take up to 10.

For those on a budget, GhostBed might be the best solution. This brand uses latex foam in its mattresses and offers an extra long warranty. Still, if you prefer to choose your own support level, Helix is better.

Helix is a renowned brand that produces high-quality sleeping products. Besides mattresses, this manufacturer offers various bedding products and bed bases. It offers a 100-night sleep trial and a warranty extending up to 20 years for selected items.

The major downside for Canadian buyers may be limited delivery. Still, Helix is a popular and reliable choice for anyone looking to up their sleeping game. Helix is sure to have something in store for you, regardless of your favourite sleeping position or the firmness level you prefer.
